About JO

Jo Salmon was born and spent her formative years in Padstow, Cornwall, an influence that continues to shape her work today. Deeply inspired by the Cornish art movements, her practice is informed by a lifelong connection to nature and further enriched by years living and working in the Far East. With a background in printed textile design, Jo creates audacious, luminescent still lifes and landscapes that celebrate the natural world and the working landscapes surrounding her current home in mid Devon. Her work captures colour, light, and atmosphere with confidence and vitality, reflecting both place and experience.

Jo has exhibited widely, including at Chelsea Town Hall and the Business Design Centre in London, and her work has been profiled in The Independent. She has also taught textiles at La Salle College of the Arts in Singapore. A finalist for the Circle Foundation of the Arts Artist of the Year Award in 2018, Jo continues to exhibit regularly across the South West and beyond.
